TRIBAL COUNCILS · 01 of 01

What is a Tribal Council?

A Tribal Council is a vote-off.

You start with a list. Every round, the group votes one thing off it. Then you do it again. The last one standing is the Sole Survivor, and everyone gets to see exactly who voted against what along the way.

How a round works

  • Every voter picks one item to vote out. You can change your vote until the last one is in.
  • The round closes the moment everyone has voted. No deadline. No clock.
  • Most votes goes home. Everything else moves on to the next round.
  • Then everyone sees who voted for what. Plan your alliances accordingly.

Ten items is plenty

Every item is a round, and every round waits for every vote. Eleven items means ten rounds. Keep the list short if your crew is the type to forget.

The idol

Each round, one voter is picked at random and secretly handed an immunity idol. Only they know. When they vote, they can protect one item, and every vote against it stops counting.

Nobody finds out until the votes are read. If the idol was played, the reveal says so. If it wasn't, the holder takes that secret to the grave.

Not in the final two

With two items left, an idol would just pick the winner. So there isn't one.

Ties

A tie means a revote, and only the tied items are on it. No idol this time. Tie again and a coin flip decides who goes home.

If every single vote landed on the protected item, there's a revote among everything else. The idol did its job. Now somebody has to leave.

If somebody never votes

They get reminders: daily for a week, then weekly. If a round sits for 30 days, the council freezes and goes to Area 51. Everyone who did vote decides who's to blame: the commissioner who ran it, or the holdouts who never showed up. A tie is a coin flip.

Either way, it ends in a mutiny, and the guilty get it on their record.

Why a council instead of a bracket?

A bracket pits two things against each other at a time. A council puts everything on the chopping block at once, every round. Pick a council when the fun is in the scheming: who teams up, who turns, and who quietly saved the thing everyone else wanted gone.
